"You Do Voodoo" Update on our Political gag gifts Laughter and Lessons Learned

It's been a month since our first post about our political voodoo doll business start up. We've been on quite the rollercoaster since then, and wanted to give you a “REAL” behind-the-scenes peek at what's been happening in our world. The good, the bad, and the ugly!

We launched our site on Halloween night. The build up to that day was full of hard work, shared laughter, and excited anticipation.  But when the big day arrived, it was a classic small business story – some wins, some lessons.  

First up, the win. 

The perfect political gag gift was complete! Our product looked awesome…pulled together to perfection! From Justin Trudeau - Just A Truedope voodoo doll, to the self made skull pins in test tubes, the comical instruction page, and the burlap packaging. We were really proud of how things turned out.

The Lesson

We hit a snag – we forgot about marketing. Lesson learned: a great product needs a voice. So, sales weren't as stellar as we hoped.

No time for dwelling. With Christmas coming, we're ramping up our marketing game. Better late than never, right?
